Aegina is Pistachio island. Finally got up close to have a look at some growing.

We never got tired of this. Simple, crisp, and tasty. Perfect with grilled sardines, Fava, Horta, all the usual suspects.

After visiting the temple, we kept walking along to the monastery. Still active, we were shown around by gracious hosts. They had a little shop with a range of goods, all made on site. We couldn’t really use much of it, but the bottled peaches were magnificent.

For a short time, Aegina was a rival to Athens. The temple was just beautiful. 2,500 years old, just a few tourists, and a nice walk from the town below.

I headed out early a couple of times in the hope of catching some of those unforgettable photos. It never really happened, but still beautiful.
